This article celebrates a significant milestone for mdg, one of WatchProSite's longest-serving community members, as he surpasses 3000 forum posts. Authored by Dr No, the piece highlights mdg's consistent contributions, known for their kindness, sensibility, and directness, which have enriched the community since the site's early days as The Purists. It offers a unique glimpse into the camaraderie and shared passion that define the WatchProSite experience.

. . . mark.  Please join me in congratulating him on the milestone.

I don't believe I've ever met him in real life. (If we did meet, mdg, my apologies for not remembering!)  He's been with us since the earliest days of this site when it was The Purists; if memory serves correct, he was an active member of the community before I was.

If our online personas are a reflection of our real selves, I would bet mdg's opinions are highly regarded in his personal circle of friends and associates.  His comments are always kind, sensible, and to the point.  He doesn't participate as often as some, but his voice speaks volumes.

Glad to know you, sir, if only here on this site.

I have been around forever in various forums over the years...long enough to know the meaning of IANWO : ) Back in the day I would attend the various lunch get-togethers (those were so much fun) and marvel at the amazing pieces being passed from table to table like after-dinner mints. My background is art direction, graphic design, typography, etc., and app design (UX/UI). That is why I tend to comment on the design aspects of watches. I don't have a

. . . about fifteen years ago. A restaurant in the middle of town, almost directly opposite a vintage watch store. Thomas was there; one of the hosts is named Steve. Attended a few others up north as well, one at a winery and the other at a conference room at Sun Microsystems. Unfortunately I don't have any 'evidence' of those gatherings, although I suspect there may be on pages of The Purists way back when. We hold gatherings in So Cal every so often . . . do you ever venture south? Art

...the Carmel lunch was sponsored by Harry Winston. One of the attendees had a RW Smith rectangular watch that I've lusted over ever since. I also remember a lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Palo Alto (Blancpain hosted) where I gave the speaker (JCB?) grief for 'flipping' the Roman numerals. I was sitting next to Rob (Cookie) who was wearing a unique piece that was worth more than my house at the time : ) Both of my boys went to LMU so we used to get down there more. But with the travel opening

I recognize the graphic background. I am schooled graphic technician. More i like graphic design. Create things is so fine, i luv it. To speak Cali, i design with Apple and i like to work old school with pencils and paper. Design and watches, fits well. 3000 is huge, congrats.
