In a recent post, hmmmcamu delves into the intricacies of the Wakmann Triple Date Chronographe Ref. 71.1309.70, a timepiece that exemplifies a unique period in horological history. This article explores hmmmcamu's detailed breakdown of its Valjoux 72C/723 caliber and the historical context of Wakmann Watch Company, offering valuable insights for collectors interested in vintage complications and brand heritage.
Valjoux does not recommend operating the day, month, or date adjusters between the hours of 20:00 and 2:00. This is to protect the calendar mechanism, which advances at midnight. The month does not automatically “roll over” with the date. It must be manually set using the inset pusher.

Wakmann would receive a batch of nearly complete watches from Switzerland, which would be assembled in the US and then sold under the Wakmann brand. The brand is / was closely associated with but not limited to the brand BREITLING.

it really ticks all the boxes for me! Put another name on the dial and it would sell for at least 10 times the money, so we all can be grateful that there are still brands and models beyond the hype that bring you unfathomable bang per buck.
I have never seen this watch before. Thank you for sharing.
Breitling eventually bought Wakmann Watch Company
