GreatPilot@me.com, a prominent collector, shares his extraordinary experience acquiring two rare Vianney Halter timepieces directly from the master watchmaker. His post not only showcases his expanded collection, including a platinum Antiqua perpetual calendar and a Deep Space Tourbillon with purple accents, but also offers a rare glimpse into the personal connection and shared inspirations that define independent horology. This intimate account underscores the unique bond between collectors and the artisans who push the boundaries of watchmaking.

i own the RG Classic VH with the silver dial but this summer I acquired a perpetual calendar (platium) Antiqua (very rare) and a Deep Space tourbillon with purple accents from Mr, Halter himself.  We had dinner in Paris and he personally delivered them both to me, brand new!  Honestly my wife and me having dinner with Vianney and his significant other, Laurence, was more special than the watches!!!

What nice people they are, Vianney is brilliant, impressive and wants too create what is in his mind, he is one of a kind…I have been a Star Trek fan since I was about 12 years old and we all had a ton of fun discussing how his thoughts, Ideas and creations were so influenced by that show along with space itself.  The funny part is Vianney waited 20 years to see the tv series as it took that long to get over to Europe, I had quite a head start on him.

His new resonance is a great creation (on order) and his “Deep Space Resonance” will be the most technical watch he has ever made with the most unusual concept of resonance anywhere, I have the FP Journe Resonance and the Armin Strom Resonance so you can tell I love the unusual to say the least.

Thanks you so much Vianney for dinner, the watches and the experience…Jim

About the De Bethune DB25 Ref. DB25

De Bethune DB25 Reference DB25

The DB25 represents De Bethune's entry in the 44.5mm manual-wind category, distinguished by its silver dial configuration within the DB25 series. This reference launched in 2006 and continues the brand's approach to contemporary haute horlogerie complications.

The 44.5mm case is crafted from 18k white gold with a fixed bezel and sapphire crystal. Water resistance extends to 30 meters. The manual-winding caliber DB2105 movement provides a substantial 120-hour power reserve. The watch features a leather strap attachment.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking De Bethune's technical approach to timekeeping in a precious metal case. The extended power reserve and manual-wind operation position it for enthusiasts who appreciate hands-on interaction with their timepieces. The 44.5mm sizing places it in contemporary proportions within the independent watchmaking segment.

Two masterpieces that have no peers, Vianney continues to stand out amongst Independents - he doesn't care about trends and his designs feel really timeless. Thank you for sharing!

He told me people made fun of him when he first introduced his Classic, believe me these watches where not cheap but Vianney did give me a great discount considering the prices on these today. A Classic recently sold at auction for $106K, maybe that will soften your regret…Jim
