Gary G's post celebrates a unique moment of shared passion, as he and a friend, 'renogreen,' both acquire the Vianney Halter Antiqua. This thread beautifully illustrates the camaraderie among collectors and the profound connection one can feel to a truly distinctive independent timepiece, especially when shared with a fellow enthusiast.
...subtitle for this edition: Double Trouble!
I received a text from a good friend of mine (let's call him "renogreen" to protect his identity
) letting me know that he was on the verge of buying a watch about which my opinion is pretty well known! Don't think I needed to nudge him too much (if at all), and on Friday we had an opportunity to go to lunch and compare notes. Standard disclaimers about the photos: restaurant lighting, hand held, point and shoot, etc. -- not to mention shaking hands from the excitement of getting these two pieces in the same spot:

For me, at least, it's hard to imagine getting a whole lot better than this for "friendship watches!"
Best,
Gary G
Pretty wild to see this one coming and going... :-) Best, Gary
It must have been a memorable moment. We can recognize the work of an Independant as there are several differences in writings/fonts: the caliber's texts are different, the "V" for Vianney is different etc ... and on the dial side, some figures are different too (as the "7" on the time display). An imaginative impulse from VH :) Did you know which one was yours before leaving ? Thanks for sharing Gary. Cheers, Mark
I am sure that there are no two of these absolutely alike! I did have a bit of trouble telling them apart, but the lettering on the caliber is the easiest differentiator... Best, Gary
I think that there is less chances for me to see two Antiqua at the same place than winning the jackpot! Fx
Actually, tahoeblue and I know of a third local owner -- we are trying to get all three together at some point! Best, Gary
