WHL, a Vacheron Constantin forum moderator, offers an in-depth review of the platinum Patrimony Traditionnelle with a gray dial, identifying it as his top pick from SIHH 2013. His detailed analysis, accompanied by excellent photography, delves into the watch's design nuances, movement, and overall aesthetic, providing valuable insights for collectors considering this reference.

The Patrimony Contemporaine Bi-Retrograde reference 82172 represents Vacheron Constantin's interpretation of retrograde complications within the Patrimony Contemporaine series. This reference distinguishes itself through its bi-retrograde function, offering dual retrograde displays on the dial face.
The watch features a 42.5mm case crafted in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel configuration. A silver dial sits beneath sapphire crystal, while an automatic movement powers the complications. The case offers 30 meters of water resistance, positioning it for dress watch applications rather than sports usage.
Reference 82172 appeals to collectors seeking complicated dress watches with traditional precious metal construction. The 42.5mm case size accommodates contemporary sizing preferences while the rose gold case material and silver dial combination provides classical color coordination. The bi-retrograde complication adds mechanical interest beyond standard time display functions, targeting collectors who appreciate visible complications in formal timepieces.
Every review of the Traditionelle manual wind has only been positive. I guess this is one of those lucky timepieces. It makes me proud as an owner of the PG version. I hope I get to see the platinum version in grey dial as well, and I also hope I can add another complimentary dress watch to go with it - I'm increasingly beginning to like the Lange 1815 up/ down.
Thanks for sharing this, Bill. The Traditionelle has been on my wish list for a while now, and it is getting closer to becoming a reality, but this very nice grey has somewhat thrown my focus on the silver dialed one off now. It's a good kind of confusing though. I saw this at Watches and Wonders and it really does look very good in the metal.
In my opinion, of course, but this Watch represents what I have in mind when I think Vacheron: Refinement, elegance, class, a bit of understatement. Best, Nicolas

Automatic Traditionelle, the version with date at 3 and seconds sundial at 9. They did make a boutique edition black dial a few years ago but that didn't work. Grey would look cool on that too. Just my 2 cents.
