Hi All

Thought I would share my latest addition this week which I’m super pleased with. 40mm case, triple calendar in stainless steel that wears extremely comfortably. Manual wind calibre 4400 and the case lines and lugs are simply stunning to my eyes. I’ve added some colour with an Vacheron alligator strap, indigo blue is also incoming.

About the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ref. 3100V

The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942, reference 3100V, is a modern reinterpretation that draws inspiration from a historical Vacheron Constantin model from 1942, specifically reference 4240. This contemporary iteration revives the classic triple calendar complication, a hallmark of mid-20th-century watchmaking, within the Historiques collection, which is dedicated to reinterpreting significant designs from the brand's archives. It stands out for its faithful adherence to vintage aesthetics while incorporating modern manufacturing techniques and materials. This reference is notable for its balanced proportions and clear legibility of its calendar indications.

The watch features a 40mm round case crafted from stainless steel, characterized by its distinctive "claw" lugs and a stepped case profile. It houses the manual-winding Vacheron Constantin Calibre 4400 QC, a movement developed and manufactured in-house. This caliber provides a substantial power reserve, ensuring reliable timekeeping and calendar function. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, allowing for a clear view of the calendar displays and time indications. The construction emphasizes comfort and wearability, consistent with its vintage inspiration.

This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate historical designs and traditional complications, particularly those with an affinity for Vacheron Constantin's heritage. Its stainless steel construction makes it a more accessible entry point for a triple calendar complication from the brand, compared to precious metal variants. The Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942 offers a blend of historical charm and contemporary reliability, making it a significant piece within the brand's current offerings and a strong representation of its commitment to preserving its legacy.

I looked at this one a week ago but with the red fonts - an amazing looking watch and I like the almost freestyle fonts used that gives it a playful and non serious look but at the same time holding serious watchmaking inside. Nice strap combo too.

Yes, I prefer the red font one too which is why I went for it (but both are lovely). I do find the red font almost disappears with the red strap and I think the indigo blue will pull out the fired blued hands for a totally different look. Well put re the ‘freestyle’ hands that’s exactly the element of the dial that caught my eye too. Thanks for your kind words

Looking forward to closer case/dial shots and also photos with the blue strap.

A reliable non-obtrusive watch with logical pragmatic complications and the annual calendar instead of perpetual keeps the costs more “reasonable” That steel case and the very strong movement will last for decades. Not so sure I like the red strap but the blue must be awesome. Mullion congrsts
