I recently came across the late 90s historiques reissue which is very similar and can generally be had for less than a modern calatrava, just as a reference point.

The patina on the case is amazing. I had a 36mm teardrop lug Vacheron with a textured black dial. The hour markers were blue, red, violet. This type of thing is a stroke of luck. Anyone thinking of polishing that case, well I don't want to say anything insulting so I'll just put .......
