Mark in Paris shares an exciting announcement from Vacheron Constantin regarding a highly complicated timepiece slated for unveiling in September 2015. This special order, developed by the Ateliers Cabinotiers for the brand's 260th Anniversary, promises to be a significant horological achievement, building on the legacy of previous extraordinary creations like the 'Vladimir' and 'Philosophia' wristwatches.
Vacheron Constantin has announced, for his 260th Anniversary, what seems to
look like an amazing and very complicated watch.
This is in fact a special order made to the Ateliers Cabinotiers (created in 2006) which is the
department dealing with very extraordinary demands from clients.
You certainly remember the Vacheron Constantin "Vladimir" complicated
wristwatch unveiled several years ago:
Or the Vacheron Constantin "Philosophia":
Well, this is another very intersting project.
Here is what Vacheron says on its website about it.
Very exciting!
Cheers, Mark

EIGHT YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT
WERE REQUIRED TO CREATE THIS POCKET WATCH
Entirely developed and crafted by three in-house watchmakers entirely dedicated
to this project for eight years, backed by the Atelier Cabinotiers special
orders team, this Grande Complication watch sets the seal on 260 years of
expertise nurtured by a perpetual quest for excellence.
Developed both on classic watchmaking principles and on innovative 21st century
technologies, this most complicated watch in the world embodies an incredible
combination of time measurement complications and functions meeting the
demanding Hallmark of Geneva criteria.
It reveals certain original complications that had to be calculated and
developed ex nihilo. The other horological complications all benefited from
improvements as well as technical or aesthetic modifications leading to the
filing of numerous patents.
Creating the world’s most complicated watch called not only for constant
perseverance, but also for unprecedented mastery of mathematics and
craftsmanship.
More information on the broad array of complications
– including a number of firsts – appearing in this exceptional watch, will be
progressively revealed over the coming months.
On September 17th 2015, the 260th day of the year and the day of Vacheron
Constantin’s 260th anniversary, the Manufacture will fully raise the curtain on
this model that is truly unique in the world.
But where?.... Wait.... Here maybe? Best, Nicolas
It is a 3D tourbillon cage for sure but on the VC picture we see 2 additional wheels in the front and in the back and the structure seems very different. There is a thick spiral over a balance wheel, this is all I can see in common frankly. To this point we also could mention the Montblanc Villeret Tourbillon Cylindrique launch in 2011 if I'm not wrong. But, again, it is very different. Montblanc Villeret Tourbillon Cylindrique familly (SiHH 2011) And, by the way, although I really liked the Gyr
Watch is close, at least... Best, Nicolas
When I had a look at your picture, this was something I was thinking: it looks nicer and more "a propos" in this pocket watch than in a wriswatch.
