Peter (pfang56) shares his inaugural independent watch acquisition, an Urwerk UR-203, a significant milestone for any collector. His journey into the world of independent horology, inspired by the WatchProSite community, culminates in securing a rare black platinum, skeletonized timepiece from a limited series of 20. This article captures the excitement and anticipation of adding such a distinctive piece to a collection.

Dear all,

As promised, I wanted to share with you my first independent purchase - an Urwerk UR-203!!

With all of the wonderful stories on the forum, I had been eyeing the possibility of purchasing an Independent piece. I had dabbled with some of the brands and dealers and auctions, but recently Sotheby’s had a set of unique timepieces in one of their recent auctions.

Soon after, I had placed a bid for multiple lots - and lo and behold the one successful lot was for an Urwerk UR-203!!!

This is a cool piece within the UR-20X family, and is made of a black platinum, with a skeletonised dial, and was made in a series of 20 pieces.

Here are some new photos below - sadly I’m not in the US to pick it up yet (I got my father to take photos) but I am giddy with anticipation. Also excited to put on the new straps!!

Many thanks to all who have inspired me to join the Indie and Urwerk route - looking forward to sharing more adventures smile

Cheers
Peter

That PT950 case is very special just like the watch box is shockingly heavy too! Do share photos when you can.. there are lots of crazy bright colours to choose from and some exotic leather too! I personally love the nylon strap. 🍻 James
