Jay (Eire)'s initial impressions of the Urwerk UR-120, dubbed the “Spock,” offer a crucial first look at a significant evolution in Urwerk's design philosophy. His post highlights the brand's innovative approach to its signature satellite display and the surprising introduction of articulated lugs, inviting collectors to consider how these changes impact wearability and the brand's distinctive aesthetic. This article synthesizes community reactions, providing a comprehensive perspective on this polarizing release.

As Ronald alluded to yesterday, a new Urwerk was announced with a new take on the satellite display.

You can see from the photos below that each satellite is now made of two pieces which come together to display the hour (as it moves along the minute track).

The press release from Urwerk indicates that (in addition to being inventive and wanting evolve their signature satellite display) this change was driven by a desire to go in a “thinner, smoother, more elegant direction”.

The surprise to me, as I referred to in my reply to Ronald was that the new watch has something rare for Urwerk, lugs ! I’m not sure how I feel about this, looks OK in pictures and if as presented they make the watch more wearable or comfortable on the wrist then it’s probably a win.  The lugs are (a la DeBethune) articulated.

Some pictures.  Enjoy.

Really want to see this in the metal, although I will not be able to afford it.

I wonder what the thickness is on it and with the gold accents could be used as a formal dress watch?

I’m sure this wears slimmer but I love my 110ST. It doesn’t feel large at all mainly because of the ergos and the titanium case as well as the day/night indicator, running seconds, and oil meter. But alas all things must evolve and this is the latest iteration of that evolution.
