Mahesh introduces Stepan Sarpaneva's new timepiece, Näkki, highlighting the Finnish watchmaker's continued innovation in intricate dial design and luminous effects. This article delves into the unique aesthetic and technical details of a watch inspired by Nordic mythology, showcasing Sarpaneva's distinct approach to independent watchmaking.
Studio Sarpaneva is known for the intricate skeleton dials and bold case design over years.
The Finnish watchmaker also was excellent in using multi-color Super-Luminova to bring more visual depth to his already gorgeous dial.
Recently the watchmaker introduced Näkki, named after the Nordic mythological creature.
It would be an understatement if i say, the stunningly luminous dial creates dramatic effect and brings the creature Näkki to life !

The case is typical Sarpaneva, strong character and extremely well built in High-grade Outokumpu stainless steel.
At 42mm dia and lug-to-lug 46mm, the timepiece will fit most wrists in great propotions.
The timepiece comes in two variants, Näkki and Näkki Harvest moon. The difference is highlighted by the hour, minute hands and with the frowning Sarpaneva moon face.

As any Sarpaneva dial, this dial is complex too but totally at a different level !
For this timepiece, Dial IS THE HIGHLIGHT - it is made of 7 parts/layers, has 650+ openings, 15 colorful Super-Luminova to give the dramatic effect...all hand painted, hand finished !!

The timepiece is a Limited edition of 30 pcs per variant.
Albeit the pricing is always a point we can debate, given the level of intricacy the dial has and the hand finish done with it, I think this timepiece takes Sarpaneva creation to the next level.

The movement is the Soprod A10 automatic caliber, but what Stepan have modified the movement to intragrate the moonphase complication to it.

Mainplate is cut to fit the moonphase directly into the movement, this allows to keep the movement thinner...

The automatic caliber beats at 4 Hz with 42 hours power reserve. Movement is finished well with Perlage, Rhodium plated.
