DonCorson's 2009 Baselworld report introduces Stepan Sarpaneva's new gold-cased Korona models, highlighting a significant design evolution from the earlier steel versions. This post is particularly valuable for understanding the brand's early design philosophy and how Sarpaneva refined his aesthetic for a broader appeal, making these initial impressions crucial for collectors tracing the brand's history.

Stepan is showing for the first time the new gold cased versions of the Korona.
The gold cases are a bit smaller at 43mm with the cut through the depth design elements of a Supernova styled down to fit the Korona.
Personally this new case is just my cup of tea as the steel Korona was too big for me.  It appears to me to send a stronger statement even though it is a bit smaller.
Bravo Stepan!

Hi ... thanks for sharing the photos. I actually prefer the case design and size of the pink gold version. In fact, i would think if the dial is made of gold as well, it would have been even more striking. Well, not something impossible in future Stepan probably thought bout it too but not sure why he didnt do it. Cheers.
