Zhege initiates a warm discussion celebrating Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish New Year, by sharing a personal tradition and a wristshot. This post evolves into a community-wide invitation from MTF for members to share their 'regular watches,' fostering an inclusive environment that values diverse timepieces beyond high-end complications.

Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish New Year, started Wednesday night.
One of our traditions is to eat apples and honey, to symbolize our hopes for a sweet year ahead.
Of course, having a nice watch on the wrist is also sweet smile

My business is very inclusive - we observe the holidays of all the partners.  So in addition to Rosh HaShanah, we have Chinese New Year, Noorooz, and of course the secular New Year.  Fortunately, we are not aging at four times the normal rate...

"Shanah Tovah" ...

"ah gut yohr". (I'm hoping that I spelled correctly). A great new year to all, Nilo

shana tovah ve metukah !

a good and sweet New Year 5574 ! another tradition is to eat pomegranates - said to contain 613 seeds, equal to the number of mitzvot (the good deeds) we should remember to perform ..... my choice for this festive day, a 1945 Breitling Chronomat ref. 769.

PuristS all-inclusive: Please join in with REGULAR watches

Dear PuristS, This 5774th Jewish year is an ideal occasion to show that PuristS are also all-inclusive for watches. Not just the Patek Philippe or Piaget or Cartier super-complicated expensive time-pieces but regular watches like what I have on now. I invite all the regular watch lovers of the world to show support for this by joining this thread. Let me count your presence to see if we can have a Man-in-the-Street Forum. No promises..... but if we can't see you we don't know if we need one. Hap

I'm far from being an Orient specialist ...

But I believe that the pusher at 2 is to set the weekday. Cheers, Nilo

Olรก do Brasil !

Nilo, "Hello Brasilian" ! Of course, you are correct about the extra button for the week day change. What a useful button it is too. Instant change by a simple push. The whole week can be changed in 3 seconds! Do you think there will be many Orient lovers in Brasil? There are many Japanese 3rd and 4th generation immigrants. I hope Brasilians will join in this sub-thread with any brand of watches that are popular there. Not just the super complicated models that a BRIC economy can afford. Regards

Orient and low end Seikos are very popular here ...

Don't me ask why but is trivial to locate vintage Seiko chronographs and vintage Orient divers. Vintage Seiko divers are more rare. Language barrier is a big problem for most of Brazilians to be here but they actively monitor the posts here and put links on their Brazilian Portuguese forums. The most recent link was to Dr. Strong post about the Omega divers. The link title is "Deu no The Purists: Os Omega Comex". I sent a PM to Jeff to tell him that he is famous here. Cheers, Nilo
