City Strolling & 3 Choices - Part 2

Well, everybody or those, who had the kindness to read my Part I, about
decision making, reasoning and feelings in Search of a GMT
( modern=Ref 116710, "The Bruiser" in Black/ Blue ) vs the more classical
black/ red GMT 16700/16710.

Thus, here the Part II and the conclusion of the Exploration process:

We had left for another cup of coffee..

What's written on the bottom of this cup ?

I have been rethinking the different aspects briefly, as outlined in Part I:, pretty much, what Nico had suggested, as well: a step back & reflect, but
don't forget your feelings, (he and my heart whisper)...

After my coffee to reflect, and following some phone calls with the AD's,
also about final prizing ...

I re- looked at the black/blue 2013 model GMT, and I liked it even more :

This is it.. Ref 116710 BLNR (black / blue)

Not too big, just right, and also low key, but clear..

I love the "fresh image" of this new GMT and it's new features ( new Steel, the diameter,
movement with improved anti- shock , the Cerachrome bezel, in a very cool edition
with that color combo; also the luming accent with more blue/ white are nice; the wrist appeal and sitting there are great for me and make me happy.

Finally, the Rolex AD made me a good package, including some goodies
Hmmm..

- So all smile

En face and very legible.. Likable proportions

Maybe the only thing, one has to get used to, is the blue, and therefore less
contrasting, 24hr hand, whereby it's tip is clearly visible..)
On a personal note, I was not yet at all disturbed by this ( although less contrast vs red !).
Likewise with the somewhat bigger fonts on the bezel, as with a decent size of 40,
and the overall looks of the watch, this is very much ok.

Again, if you want more details, pls go to Baron's detailed review of his
reasoning and deliberations for the " Bruiser"/ aka " Batman"..

So here are the vistas of the other 'contenders' , one more time:
The GMT 16710 / 2001. - Very familiar to many here - for several, if not
many their first Rolex (GMT), I assume, reading some comments.

- Thus, here is nothing really to proove to myself anymore:
is just the " standard black/ red" package of a 16710 at a very decent, good prize..

Another WS of the - also very nice - 16710 ( blk/ red)

A nicely gilted Duo of 5513s

Here the Trio of very nice 5513 Subs.. Not this time, Ladies

, two with very nice gilt and in great condition !

- The Trio was quickly now out of sight, ( also as I own another 5513 already)

- Today it was more of a very nice distraction, rather than the searched objects
although two of them were very, very nice... - Another time, maybe

- A bit more difficult now, about the somewhat lower prized red/black GMT :

I felt these types of watches will not run away, if- and only if - there would be the
later compelling wish to add one later ..

A goodhearted farewell to this very nice 16710 (blk/ red)

So, after a lot of reasoning, It comes down to choose between the GMT 16710 and the " Bruiser".

But my heart had spoken already anyway - was just that now the brain was following

To make the long story short, : the winner is : Rolex Ref 116710 BLNR, the "Bruiser"

[ here some final pics]

smile">
Sits perfectly.. An appealing look I like smile

Shiny, but modest.. Not flamboyant, but cool..

Hope, this was not too boring or too much rambling : just thought to share the crazy circles
in which we sometimes think during all our passionate searches and hunts..

Finally, where does it end again for me ?
- yes, at another coffee - 3 Choices, 3 cups,
ahem, with some little delights before and after the little City Strollings

smile">
It has to be with Sacher's Torte ( delicious choc- cake) smile

Thank you a lot, if you have been listening/ reading me, much appreciated..

Best, hs

PS: BTW : I'll pick it up, early next week, maybe on the weekend - we'll see..
wink

PPS: thanks to Baron for "parallel encouragement", to Nico for kind & wise advice,
and to you all for enduring the little saga -- HAGWE everyone !!

Congratulation on your choice

I hand to really read the whole post to get to the juicy details and was little confused along the way. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and it look like your heart won over your mind that influenced you hand to reach in you pocket and for the face to have a smile. Chain reaction Rolex style. Wear it in great health. I hope to see it on your wrist the next time we meet. Bill
