Luca (mywrongwrist) initiates a discussion on John Mayer's prediction regarding the future collectibility of two specific Rolex Daytona references: the yellow gold with a green dial and the white gold with a blue dial. This post delves into whether these precious metal Daytonas are overlooked gems compared to the ceramic steel versions.

the two most sought after Daytona in precious metal in the future will be the yellow gold with green dial and the white gold with blue dial?
He was so sure during his 2nd Hodinkee Talking Watches...
His reasoning the hype now is only on the ceramic ones and these two pieces still available constantly flow under any radar

Curious to hear your opinion on this
Thanks in advance to anyone who will like to express his view

Perhaps it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. If JM says it will be collectible does it become collectible on merit or on JM’s word? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ [nt]

I tend to agree because both are really beautiful!

Compared to the ceramic Daytona's I'd definitely agree. There just aren't many (relatively speaking) of these out there. [nt]

It depends of so many factors ( prod number, years of production, demand ) that at the end, the only good question is: " Do I love it at the point to want to get it "?

These two are very cool looking. Both of them. The yellow gold green dial has a cool factor, the white gold blue dial is superb. AND at the price the steel ceramic goes, it is not stupid to consider them as a serious and interesting alternative. The question to know if they will be more or less sought after is irrelevant, in my opinion. One should take his decision on the watch, not on the " sought afterability ".... Best, Nicolas

Daytona

I am not really a fan of the whole Daytona range. However, I think that particular configuration of the Daytona (Yellow Gold with a Green Dial) is an absolute hit! I would buy that watch, and enjoy owning it. No doubt!
