Luca (mywrongwrist) initiates a discussion on John Mayer's prediction regarding the future collectibility of two specific Rolex Daytona references: the yellow gold with a green dial and the white gold with a blue dial. This post delves into whether these precious metal Daytonas are overlooked gems compared to the ceramic steel versions.

The Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 reference 116508 is a notable entry within the brand's contemporary collection, distinguished by its innovative case construction and refined aesthetics. This particular reference is recognized for its use of 18k yellow gold, offering a classic yet modern interpretation of the Code 11.59 design language. It represents Audemars Piguet's commitment to exploring new forms and materials while maintaining a high standard of horological craftsmanship.
The watch features a 40mm case crafted from 18k yellow gold, housing an automatic movement. The dial is presented in a vibrant green, complemented by a fixed tachymeter bezel. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, ensuring clarity and durability. The movement provides a power reserve of 72 hours and is water-resistant to 100 meters, making it suitable for daily wear.
This reference appeals to collectors interested in Audemars Piguet's modern offerings and those seeking a distinctive timepiece that combines traditional precious metal with a contemporary design. Its yellow gold Oyster bracelet integrates seamlessly with the case, enhancing its cohesive appearance. The production period for this reference spans from 2016 to 2023, indicating its availability over several years within the brand's catalog.
These two are very cool looking. Both of them. The yellow gold green dial has a cool factor, the white gold blue dial is superb. AND at the price the steel ceramic goes, it is not stupid to consider them as a serious and interesting alternative. The question to know if they will be more or less sought after is irrelevant, in my opinion. One should take his decision on the watch, not on the " sought afterability ".... Best, Nicolas
I am not really a fan of the whole Daytona range. However, I think that particular configuration of the Daytona (Yellow Gold with a Green Dial) is an absolute hit! I would buy that watch, and enjoy owning it. No doubt!
I think a better statement from a collector would to suggest these two watches as being under the radar for those who are not hung up on the hype. If you like the Daytona line up try these two. Nothing wrong with speculating but i prefer to hear about the beauty perspective.
I have actually been looking at the WG Daytona for a while now, both the blue dial and the steel/black dial. The latter being perhaps the more pedestrian or subtle choice.
has he bought a stock of these watches and wants to unload them at a later time as is the case with H's many articles. Do we also remember when no one wanted a Daytona? Things are unpredictable in watch collecting
I can't blame him though. They are both good color combinations.
