I'm planning to test the Day-Date with the WG olive dial, but the Pt is not discarded at all... when I saw them together, the Pt was the winner by far...

at the time of my purchase I already had WG Rolex pieces and just wanted a platinum one so I didn't consider a WG DD at all. Only competitor was the Platona, actually my favorite when approaching the issue. But when I saw both side by side I discarded the platona as the DD40 is just the superb piece and perfect watch on my wrist. And the ice blue dial is lovely when not disturbed by sub counters.....
always been my favorite WG version. I also tried the Platinum version. I even liked it a little better than the white gold model. The only reason why I decided against the platinum version: the watch felt a bit too heavy on my wrist and the price difference between platinum and white gold was simply too high for me at the time. Today I would probably make a different decision…
