Press Release
The Richard Mille RM021 represents a significant exploration into advanced materials within high horology, a hallmark of the brand's approach to watchmaking. This reference is distinguished by its innovative use of orthorhombic titanium aluminide and carbon nanofiber for the baseplate, a design choice aimed at optimizing rigidity and lightness. It reflects the brand's commitment to integrating cutting-edge engineering directly into the structural integrity of the timepiece, setting it apart from more traditional constructions.
The tonneau-shaped case of the RM021 typically measures 48mm x 39.70mm x 14.10mm, crafted from materials such as titanium, red gold, or white gold, often paired with a carbon nanofiber baseplate. The movement, a manual-winding tourbillon, is visible through the sapphire crystal on both the front and back, showcasing its intricate architecture. The power reserve is approximately 70 hours, a practical duration for a high-performance mechanical watch.
This reference appeals to collectors interested in the intersection of material science and horological innovation. It stands as an example of Richard Mille's philosophy of pushing boundaries in watch construction and design. While specific variants may feature different case materials, the core technological advancements in the movement's baseplate remain a defining characteristic, making it a notable piece within the brand's experimental lineage.
My favorite model among the RM familly, even if I think I prefer brushed Titanium cases :) A very nice alternative to Ti though if the owner wants to remain in the low weight materials. Thanks for the news Anthony. Cheers, Mark
