ThomasM announces the official launch of the Audemars Piguet forum on PuristSPro, marking a significant evolution for the community. This introduction highlights the forum's historical roots, its global influence in coining watch nicknames, and its continued dedication to the esteemed brand.

As an early Christmas present to PuristSPro community AP fans, I'd like to officially announce the launch of the AP forum on PuristSPro!

As PuristS old timers know, the original AP forum on ThePuristS started it all - launched on May 31, 2001, with the explicit approval and support of US CEO Francois Bennahmias, then global CEO George-Henri Meylan, and then VP Michel Faure, that Audemars Piguet forum was not only the first in the world dedicated to this august brand, an original and permanent member of the classical "Big Three," but over time became the leading go to resource in the world on all things AP.

Its reach and influence can be understood by two generally (unofficially) used but originally "local" nicknames coined on ThePuristS AP forum for specific models - the now globally recognized nickname "Bumblebee" (again, note this is unofficial) for the forged carbon and ceramic bezel Royal Oak Offshore

And the "Kill Bill" edition Jalan Bukit Bingtang (JBB).

That AP forum was also the first "community" forum on ThePuristS.com; prior to that, ThePuristS.com (then ThePurist178.com , how many old timers remember that, domain name, or recognize the meaning of the 178 at the end?) was essentially a personal hobby blog of mine.

Well, all things change, and all things evolve, and today we have PuristSPro.com , a vibrant and growing community bringing together people of like interests and standards, from all around the world (and beyond, hopefully smile  )

The original AP forum on ThePuristS remains, and will remain so, hopefully in perpetuity.

But I'm very happy to announce that, with the approval and recognition of Global CEO Mr. Philippe Merk and COO/VP of Marketing and Communications Mr. Olivier Quillet, and of course the support of all my friends in AP around the world, we are officially launching a dedicated AP forum on PuristSPro.

(yeah, yeah, some of you have already discovered the forum in its soft launch phase, you'll get a chance for a special prize in the upcoming celebratory prize contests.  smile )

So, welcome, and please drop in and say hello!

Happy Holidays!

TM

Wow, has it been 8 years already? To many more sets of 8 years to come, Long live AP. Thank you for giving us some of the best horological wonders and emotional attachment in recent years! Happy Holidays, and best wishes to all fellow AP lovers in the year ahead. Cheers, Jon

. . . on the official launch of the forum. Strange as it may sound, AP is akin to an horological 'black hole' for me. I have practically no knowledge and zero experience, so if I ever ask a seemingly idiotic question, please cut me a little slack - it'll be out of sheer ignorance! Warmest regards, Art

Congrats on the new Audemars Piguet forum. And most importantly, thanks to you TM for starting it all in 2001, and for your vision, dedication, and support for our fondness for AP. Wishing PPro the best on this new endeavor and of course continued success on the original PuristS site. Awwwwwww, such fond memories this year: And last year: And looking forward to 2010 and beyond Happy Holidays! ED-209

Thanks a lot for all the great work done, and for us to have created so many dream pieces ( AP ) and a way to express our Dreams ( Thomas ). I'm so happy to see that we ALSO have an AP forum in PPRO. Thomas, you already know it, but you're the one who built which became my virtual house, a different place in the Net World. Thanks for all! Best, Nicolas

AP is a great brand. I dream of one day owning an iconic piece, the Royal Oak. PPro gets better everyday! Thomas, thanks for your vision, and for giving us this place, which has become my virtual clubhouse. I've learned so much on the boards, and look forward to getting to know AP even further. Cheers, Daos
