jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) shares a relatable tale of anticipation, comparing his excitement for a new PPro ABR to his son's eagerness for a new toy. This post captures the universal joy and impatience collectors feel when awaiting a significant new acquisition, especially one as robust and meaningful as the ABR, intended as a family watch.
Thanks to MTF and Anthony, I soon will be the proud owner of #156 PPro ABR.
It has reached Singapore. But I am on vacation in Hong Kong Disneyland with my family.
Arghhhh! I just came here today. If only I wired the funds to Anthony 1 day earlier than i did then I could have received this yesterday and wore it for my vacation.
The whole day I was thinking of this watch. I saw myself in my son.
Son: Dad, I want to play that new Ironman toy we bought in the Disneyland hotel toy shop and I can't wait. (this was when we are in the restaurant and I didn't allow him to play his toy until we got back to the hotel) He's 3 btw.
Me: No. I know you got a new toy but you cant play while having dinner
Son: but I can't wait!!!! (Starting being cranky)
Me: well at least you have your new toy here! Daddy's new toy at home and I can't even touch it now! (Me being cranky like the boy)
Wife/son/daughter: huh? What toy did Daddy get?
Wife: you didn't get a new watch again did you? You just got that Montblanc Star Worldtime in Dec 2013 and that montblanc Villeret in Aug 2013 and the Breguet in Jul 2013 .... the list goes on....
Me: this one is different. It's a very meaningful watch, good to wear with the kids as it is very robust. Show you when we're back. Don't worry it's reasonablely priced. And you will be proud I got this watch.
Wife: grrrr
Me: (changed topic) boy, let's play your new Ironman now.... :p
Cheers
Robin

Great human interest story, really humanizes our common passion of watches and watch collecting! Thanks, jrwong, and I'm proud to count you among our community and fellow ABR owners! From "00"
Your #00 is amazing! I am also proud to be an ABR owner alongside all of you senior Purists! It's great to have my first community watch, esp one so special like the PPro ABR. Cheers Robin
