Pretty Boy details the intense anticipation surrounding the lottery draw for the highly coveted Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991.2). This post offers a rare glimpse into the exclusive world of high-performance car allocation, where factors beyond financial capability, such as purchase history, determine eligibility for these limited-production vehicles.
). Rumours have it that 40 people signed a pre-contract. However, the majority of those was eliminated ahead of the lottery draw due to various reasons (didn't buy enough cars in the past (or the wrong models), financial strength doubts, etc.). It appears that around 15 people will be in the lottery draw which will be supervised by a notary public. Given the issues Porsche dealers had in the past with models produced in low numbers and/or very sought after, this seems to be a good and fair way to proceed, IMO. Let's keep your fingers crossed. I will keep you posted. Best, Volker

The Porsche Design Chronograph I, reference 911, represents a significant early offering from the brand, establishing its design philosophy in the watchmaking world. This model is notable for its minimalist aesthetic and functional approach, reflecting the brand's automotive heritage through its focus on legibility and material choice. It was conceived as a tool watch, prioritizing clarity and durability over ornate decoration, a characteristic that set it apart from many contemporaries upon its introduction.
Crafted with a black PVD-coated stainless steel case, the Chronograph I features a distinctive monochromatic appearance. The case diameter measures 40mm, providing a substantial yet wearable presence on the wrist. It houses an automatic movement, specifically the Valjoux 7750, known for its robustness and reliability. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, ensuring scratch resistance, and offers a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
This reference holds particular appeal for collectors interested in the origins of Porsche Design's horological ventures and the broader trend of black-cased watches. Its straightforward design and mechanical integrity make it a compelling choice for those who appreciate a blend of automotive-inspired engineering and practical watchmaking. The 911 reference is a foundational piece, illustrating the brand's initial vision for a performance-oriented timepiece.
It's the fastest street legal car around the "Nürburgring Nordschleife", the world's most difficult race track and benchmark for sports cars.
Fingers crossed......what a fun way to play the night. Do you have a lucky watch?
the odds are not too bad. Are the other 14 your cousins and nephews? Good luck tonight.
The sound of this one is good, no doubt, but IMO the naturally aspirated 911s sound better, in particular the 911 GT3 RS.
We'll be rooting for you!
Even if I‘m lucky, delivery will only be in 2018. But driving such a car during wintertime doesn’t make sense anyway. 😉
