(Los Angeles, CA – February 25, 2013) - For the sixth consecutive year, Piaget co-hosted the annual Film Independent Spirit Awards, which celebrates the actors, directors, producers and writers who create the best in independent film.  “At Piaget, we champion creativity and craft, and thus the Spirit Awards is a natural fit,” states Philippe Leopold-Metzger, CEO of Piaget.  “We’re proud to support and nurture the exceptional talent gathered here today.”  In addition to sponsoring the ceremony, the Swiss jeweler and watchmaker also underwrites the Piaget Producers Award, an unrestricted grant of $25,000 given to an emerging producer who demonstrates exceptional promise.

Piaget jewelry and timepieces were the ultimate accessory for the day’s brightest stars, including Andy Samberg who emceed the event, looking dashing in Piaget rose gold and onyx cufflinks and Best Supporting Male winner, Matthew McConaughey, who wore a rose gold Piaget Altiplano.

Best Supporting Female winner, Helen Hunt, looked chic in rose gold and diamond Piaget Limelight Party earrings and a Piaget Possession ring as she accepted her award for “The Sessions”.  Her co-star, John Hawkes, won the Spirit award for Best Male Lead.  In recognition of his achievement, Mr. Leopold-Metzger, presented him with a white gold Piaget Emperador Coussin timepiece.

Also wearing Piaget for the awards were Paul Rudd and “Silver Linings Playbook” star Chris Tucker, who both chose white gold Piaget Altiplano watches.  Best Male Lead nominee, Thure Lindhardt, opted for a Piaget Polo in rose gold to complete his look.  Paula Patton dazzled in Piaget Rose earrings crafted in rose gold with pink opal and diamonds, as she presented the Piaget Producers Award to Mynette Louie who wore a Piaget Possession necklace and earrings in white gold and diamonds.  “Middle of Nowhere” star and nominee, Emayatzy Corinealdi wore a dramatic yellow gold and turquoise vintage Piaget cuff watch and white gold and diamond earrings.  Her co-star, Lorraine Toussaint, sparkled in a rose gold, diamond and white chalcedony Limelight Party necklace and Piaget cocktail ring.

Rising star, Dree Hemingway, donned matching Piaget Limelight Elixir earrings and ring in white gold and diamonds, along with a white gold Possession chain motif ring, and “Castle” star, Stana Katic, chose a white gold and diamond ring from Piaget’s new Couture Precieuse collection.  Longtime friend of the brand, Russell Smith, wore his white gold Altiplano, as he accepted the award for Best First Feature, and one of the film’s stars, Melanie Lynskey, wore a Piaget Rose pendant.

Backstage, the Piaget VIP Lounge was the first stop for the day’s winners who were joined by fellow celebrities and influencers, including Zoe Saldana, wearing a Piaget Rose necklace, ring and earrings, Michael Pena, Marcia Gay Harden, Salma Hayek and husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, Rosemarie DeWitt and husband Ron Livingston, along with art world superstar, Marina Abramovic.  Guests sipped champagne and previewed selections from Piaget’s Couture Precieuse collection.
