DivingT takes us on a captivating journey to the Pau Historic Grand Prix in southwest France, an event that brings together a stunning array of classic racing machines. His photo essay beautifully captures the atmosphere, from pre-war Bugattis and Maseratis to iconic Porsches and American muscle cars. This report highlights the unique accessibility of the event, allowing enthusiasts to get remarkably close to these automotive legends.

Last weekend was the historic grand prix of Pau, south west France.
Part of a tour of historic Grand Prix's, which also includes Monaco (the weekend before), and Le Mans - still to come.

Took some photos, as attached, everything from Pre-War open wheel racers - lots of Bugattis, Maseratis, Bentleys, right up to the Pre 76 GT's - porsche, corvette and mustangs.

I'll let the photos do the talking, a very enjoyable event, which allows you to get very close to the cars when they are not racing.....

My son (on the right) and his little pal, discussing this amazing Bugatti.

the long uphill straight, passing the viaduct below the Boulevard de Pyrenees

Some more shots of the amazing Bugatti - who the driver was not afraid to drive hard!!

So many cool old Porsche, with many of them featuring classic racing colours!

And the driver of this Corvette was amazing - broadsiding it at every opportunity, and he was really shifting!, Such an amazing engine note!!!

Just like the Paul Smith mini colours!. No idea who the driver was, but there was a lot of people asking him to sign autographs.

...and I know, although I like the modern racing / sports cars, there is something very magical about watching and looking at the old racers, and the aprietiation of all the time and effort that goes into maintaining and driving them! Cheers tony
