GLau's insightful post unveils the intricate artistry behind a unique Patek Philippe pocket watch dial, a singular creation by the renowned enameler Anita Porchet. This piece, distinguished by Porchet's full signature, represents a mere 5-10% of her atelier's annual output, signifying her sole craftsmanship. GLau meticulously details the four distinct enamel techniques employed, offering readers an exclusive look into the complexity and dedication involved in crafting such a horological masterpiece.

Since this piece was signed "A Porchet", this signature means that she worked on this dial all on her own.  Around 5 to 10% of her atelier's yearly production bears such signature.  With others signed "AP", those dials are worked on by her and her team under her direction supervision.  For more information about her workshop, please refer to 2 earlier posts:  www.watchprosite.com     www.watchprosite.com

This masterpiece contains 4 (!!!) different enamel techniques: champleve (engraving made on the dial to have grooves filled with enamel), cloisonne (fine wires to create partitions for enameling), paillonne (layering foils in enamel) and miniature painting (using a very fine brush to hand paint).  Can you identify each on the dial ?

Can you guess how long Anita worked on this dial ?  She spent nearly 2 months to make this piece of unique art !  I cannot imagine the focus, intricacy, and dexterity required for making this grail piece.  Hail to THE enamel queen !

What are your thoughts on this enamel dial ?

Since this deal was destined for the Japanese market, Anita and Patek jointly decided to choose an old Japanese painting👆.  She then thought of brightening up the color to pink to give it a WOW factor.  Thereafter she thought about what techniques should be used to pay tribute to the original piece of art.

Amazing piece…definitely will be a collector’s item on par with Suzanne Rohr’s collection from Patek. The details are vivid and reproduces the original very nicely!

A masterpiece. However, am I the only one who also sees a crazy cat in the top part of the stem of the branch? Just inside the blue circle 😃
