Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise shares his long-awaited acquisition of a Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-010, marking a significant milestone in his eight-year collecting journey. His post vividly captures the emotional experience of finally owning this iconic timepiece, detailing its aesthetic nuances and exceptional comfort. This personal narrative offers a relatable perspective on the allure and impact of a Patek Philippe Nautilus.
Team,
I have been collecting watches for 8 years, quite a long ride, but I have never had a Patek watch. Until now.
Why? Because I have found myself not enough old, wise, wealthy and calm to have one. I didn't like the plain Calatravas, I couldn't allow me to buy a perpetual calendar, and I didn't like the design of the Nautilus, comparing especially with the RO. Until now.
Now has changed everything. A myth was in my hand, I was shivering and couldn't resist at all.
Please see the result on my wrist:
What could be my first Patek other, than an 5711/1A-010
I was and still deeply impressed. The colour of the dial changes from black to grey, from grey to blue, from blue to green, depending on the light conditions.
The watch is ultra-light, and sits very smoothly and comfortable on my wrist. It is actually so light, that I hardly feel that I am wearing a watch.
Of course it is brand-new, double-sealed, of course that I paid a high premium above list price, but I am afraid I will never get a phone call from the AD's, where I am on the waiting list. The whole package is very, very impressive:

On a half double-sealed state, just before starting the birth-procedure:

The birth-pains were started at this stage, but still in her mother's stomach:

Single-sealed half-life stage:
First breathtaking after the birth:
First time on my wrist - won't be the last:
I am happy like a kid!!!!
Terrific watch, spectacular proportions, fantastic wristpresence, very easy to wear, great comfort.
Just two little complaints: the watch hasn't got a sweep-second mechanism, which is uncommon at this price-range and quality. Second is the clasp: I must get used to it, because it is not too easy to operate with it.
But the most perfect watch can't be perfect at all, otherwise it would be boring!
Cheers and HAGWE,
Adam
