Small-luxury-world shares a fascinating double-face pocket watch from the Patek Philippe Museum collection, predating modern smartwatches by centuries. This piece, though unsigned and not produced by Patek Philippe, showcases an extraordinary level of haute horlogerie with its intricate animated kitchen scene, highlighting the historical ingenuity in watchmaking.

To be honest, more than 300 years before Basel 2015 and not even from Patek Philippe as it is unsigned.

The doubleface pocketwatch shown here is not produced by PP, but a part of their collection shown in the PP Museum.

It looks so simple on the front, but for the scenic animations on the back there are six automats needed.

The chicken on the spit is moving ... a small animal is moving it forward ... water is running downright ... flames are flickering ... and a young lady is working with the mortar. Lots of attention to the detail and impressive for sure.

What I like most about that "kitchen scene" is the facial expression of the gentleman in the back. It looks like the husband tries to come home on tiptoe, without getting too much attention by his cooking wife ... smile

Gentleman if you come home late tomorrow, someone will take a picture with his/her phone and he/she will share it on Faceboook & Co. ... smile

HAGWE,
Oliver

I barely can imagine the time required...

to create such a complicated scene. Lot of time, patience and rare skill. And I would guess certainly not made to serve marketing purposes. Thanks for sharing Oliver. Cheers, Mark

Wow, I was not aware ...

of this one. Those watches are really rare and I took the picture already in 2013. Always wanted to do a post about, but didnยดt until recently. The one I posted is unsigned and has one more complication, but it looks indeed very similar. Good find, Bruno. Thanks! Oliver

Thanks Oliver, this type of watches are amazing !! This particular one is definitely...

smarter than an Apple smart watch, especially given when it was made !! Would love to see more of these if you have them. Cheers, Gordon
