This post invites the WatchProSite community to reflect on their ultimate Patek Philippe aspirations, sparking a vibrant exchange of horological desires and insights into specific references.

What are your top 3 all-time most desirable Pateks?
Criteria is pretty simple, it has to be a series production watch or a limited edition that was made in at least 100 pieces. It cant be unique one off pieces, but can be a unique dial variation of a standard production piece.
Here are my three:

The ref.2499 Perpetual Calendar with chronograph
Launched in 1950, it was in continuous production till 1985. Yet despite this time, only 349 pieces were made in four series. The first series saw two variations in cases, one made by Vichet with a diameter of 36.2mm. This was superseded by Wenger case with a diameter of 37.8mm.The second series saw the introduction of round pushers and a 37mm case.
Whatever the series, it is in my opinion just perfect and a dream watch.
The ref. 3974 Perpetual minute repeater

Launched in October 2014, for 175th anniversary celebrations, it is a unique complication, combing a large moonphase display and world time. Made in 1300 pieces, it was “relatively” obtainable. Certainly out of my three, it’s the one that is most accessible. It’s an intoxicating mixture of horological complication and one the most exquisite cases ever made. The shaped asymmetric lugs are delightful. The whole combination is perhaps for me the most beautiful and innovative modern Pateks ever made.

The Patek Philippe Reference 2499 is a highly significant perpetual calendar chronograph, representing a pivotal model in the brand's history of complicated wristwatches. It succeeded the Reference 1518 and introduced a larger case diameter and updated aesthetic, establishing a design language that would influence subsequent perpetual calendar chronographs from Patek Philippe for decades. The reference was produced in four distinct series, each with subtle variations in dial layout, pusher style, and case construction.
This reference typically features a case crafted from precious metals, most commonly yellow gold, though examples in rose gold and platinum are known. The case diameter is generally 37.5mm, housing a manual-wind movement, specifically the caliber 13''' Q. This movement integrates a perpetual calendar mechanism with a chronograph function, offering indications for day, date, month, leap year, and moon phases. The crystal is typically acrylic for earlier series and sapphire for later iterations.
The 2499 is highly sought after by collectors due to its rarity, complexity, and historical importance. It is considered a benchmark for vintage complicated Patek Philippe watches and represents the evolution of the perpetual calendar chronograph from the mid-20th century. The variations between the four series provide distinct collecting opportunities, with each series possessing unique characteristics that appeal to different connoisseurs.
I would have included the 5029 but only 30 were produced so instead I have included the 3939, the 5959 and the 5531 the 3939R minute repeater tourbillon the 5959P ultra thin split second chronograph the 5531R - minute repeater world timer
My personal collection top 3 would be. The largest is 34.6mm and the smallest 31mm! The 7200R London Edition - does not meet your criteria as it was only produced in 80 pieces the 3878J - still in my ADs safe as I pay it off in instalments!! The 1530A - my only vintage watch but what a watch.
2499 I was going to say of course But for my #2 choice I would vote for the 5370 P and for #3 I would go for 5970 P Needless to say that my Wonder Watch (ref 3448) is also in my dream list but I don't need to count it since I already have one, hehehe ! so I mentioned only the three that would come in addition It is nice to have dreams sometimes they become reality
