Hi All,

Although I have been exposed to watches since young due to my later father’s passion for horology, my own journey at times brings new perspectives and joys!

Previous posts about my father’s and my horological journeys.

I provide the first of hopefully a series...

This year is especially meaningful in terms of self-discovery and unexpected rewarding moments in my life!  Previously I posted about ellipse 5738/1R-001 and its ultra comfortable chain-style bracelet   www.watchprosite.com  I love its classic elegant shape and appreciate the intricacy of the sophisticated bracelet. To me having one ellipse is good enough for my collection and this model is an excellent choice.

Given my strong passion for rare handcrafts, a few months ago I was fortunate to have been allocated a wood marquetry with the swan motif to make my marquetry dreams come true   www.watchprosite.com   Never would I have thought that another rare handcraft opportunity would happen within the same year. When I found out about the ellipse (reference 5738/150) with enamel dial (utilizing cloisonne, paillone and miniature painting techniques), I knew that it was meant to be! Thank you to the Patek staff for alerting me to this piece and helping me get an allocation out of the 10 pieces.

The most meaningful part of this ellipse enamel journey is that it was the PERFECT watch to wear for my son’s wedding because it matched our light-colored (due to hot weather in Thailand) Thai traditional silk outfits perfectly. Furthermore, the white gold is not flashy and subtle, with the enamel dial, although its colors are vibrant but are on the dark side, represents understated elegance.  Additionally, we had the ultimate honor of having the audience with our beloved Princess, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who graciously presided in anointing Holy water for the couple. In such a regal environment, this 5738/150 received its calling and was a perfect addition for this auspicious occasion!

Have you experienced such moments in your journey? If so, please share with the forum.

Happy wishes and congrats

First of all, all the possible best wishes to your son and his wife. May they be blessed with long life and happiness. Regarding the watch, many thanks for sharing the pictures of such a lovely Elipse. As you mentioned, exceptional and discrete at same time. Regarding the bracelet, it really like it in WG. It is very detailed and (if like the one in RG) very comfortable to wear? Best, Jerome
