Her visual pairing of classic and contemporary Patek Philippe models, alongside vintage and modern sports cars, serves as a compelling prompt for collectors to consider their preferences and the underlying motivations that shape their horological journeys. This exploration extends beyond mere aesthetics, delving into the practicalities and emotional connections collectors form with their acquisitions.

But yes mainstream can definitely also be fun
But I prefer a mix. For my tastes it’s not so much modern vs vintage as it’s more about the overall aesthetic and how it fits my personality and lifestyle. I don’t base my choices on convention. At this point I’ve learned to go my own way. BTW, if I were allocated one of the rare 5711 editions I would definitely wear it, a lot. But admittedly I would enjoy the aspect that after years of use I could potentially make a profit that could be put toward the purchase of another piece.

Honestly, I can't drive vintage cars without worrying about the transmission too much. Shift, worry about the synchronizers, finish shift, relax, then shift again and repeat! Thus, I like modern cars with fully synchronized gearboxes. Electric cars have no gears! And mid-engined sports cars are now mostly double-clutch transmissions!
