Ch1982's original post presents a classic dilemma for collectors: choosing between two exceptional dress watches. This article synthesizes community insights to help navigate the decision between a Patek Philippe Calatrava and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon, offering perspectives on aesthetics, complications, and long-term ownership that remain relevant to new enthusiasts.

has a moon 🌝 phase. However since this is a Patek forum, I am biased because the calatrava is an iconic reference. Naturally your choice also involves your personal selection criteria.
The Patek is a classic Calatrava, and one of Patek’s nicest in the last 15 years, the other being the 5127. Beautiful Geneva seal movement via the well regarded cal 315. The JLC is modern with its blue dial and a bit larger than the Patek. The JLC is more eye-catching, for sure. Let me ask: assuming this is a longer-term acquisition, which one do you want to see when you look down at your wrist in 5 year’s time? Cheers, John
Don’t forget. They usually offer 5% to 10% off. Sometimes more depending on the piece.
0.4%…which sounded more like a joke to me. Cheers Kev
