Yesterday evening I had an appointment at my AD and could see some of the PP 2021 models.

My point of interest had not been the green 5711 or the 5990R. Both are more or less nice watches but these didn’t really catch my attention at its presentation.

However, I was very much delighted that PP would finally present a new Calatrava movement at adequate size matching the contemporary case designs. And to make it even better, PP is presenting this new movement in a modern interpretation of the Cloud-de-Paris design. So I was eager seeing the new Calatravas in the flesh.

The R version was not yet available unfortunately but as my focus was on the G, I couldn’t complain.

My very first impression was that the watch looks much better in the flesh than on the marketing pics. The overall proportions of case diameter and thickness, dial size and bezel is very good imho. I was anxious about the rail track on the dial as I didn’t really like at first glance. Seeing the watch in real I must admit that the rail track is making sense considering the large size of the dial and its design.

The vertically satin brushed finish of the dial is much finer than that of the 5235G and therefore not immediately visible at certain light conditions. Hereby the dials has got a modern twist without forgetting about the more restrained character of a classic Calatrava watch in my eyes.

I should not forget mentioning one disadvantage of the model. The slightly domed sapphire crystal is reflecting the light extremely. Thus it is sometimes hard to get an undisturbed look at the dial or to make decent photos of the watch. But due to the pretty bold hands it is always easy to read the time from the dial.

After all for me the 6119G is a very beautiful Calatrava with a design successfully balanced between PP tradition and modern times. I am happy that I’ve got the chance adding it to my collection 😄.

Congratulations!

I tried on the 6119G last week as well - the size is definitely more contemporary, but unfortunately wears quite big. My wrist could not carry it off and the lugs protruded slightly over....it is a nice watch, and I really like the casework, but I think this new lug design feels similar to the Breguet straight lugs which unfortunately is not very good with smaller wrists. The grey is very cool, and you’re right, there is no way to take nice picture of the dial colors, especially when indoors wit

I understand your point. Fortunately, on my 20 cm wrist the case wears fine 😄

Uh oh...

I was really curious to see the 6119 as I think the design is superb. But on my 16.5cm wrists, I don’t think it‘ll work out. Too bad...
