I think the newest Advanced Research reference is made for the younger generation Pated Philippe admirers. It's a watch praying for action! I'm an old man already and could keep the watch on my wrist 24/7 for two consecutive weeks. During these two weeks, I
- took 9 flights, totally 23,605 km and 32 hours in the air.
- visited the Arctic region, 290 km north of the Arctic Circle and faced a severe snow storm.
- visited the tropical area in Singapore with the thunder storm of my life.
- took 5 ferry trips, totally 204 nautical miles and 9 hours on board the ship.
- travelled with the train from Arctic to Helsinki, 800 km and 10 hours.
- drove 20 laps on a FIA approved racing track with my Maranello Fiat. Faced severe G-forces and destroyed a set of nice tyres.
- in addition to all the city driving, made 890 km of highway driving - Ferrari and Porsche.
So the easy going life of an old man. But let's start from the moments I received my 5650G from Pated Philippe Salon London.

My dream was to fish a bit but there was a problem:
Still some ice on the lakes. When passing my village in Lapland, I had to drive through a good snow storm.
I have an old friend in Lapland. He's name is Jocke and he's a professional fisherman. He loves to booze but can't afford it. Jocke is also an eager hunter and he loves shooting grouse. So on my last visit I brought him a 4.5 litres whisky bottle but it was empty already. I bought him 5 litres more to fill up his bigger bottle.
Jocke understands about good booze but he has never heard about Pated Philippe. Still he's a happy man!
By the evening I had to catch the train and load my car to the train. Still time for a couple of photos.

It's not fun to wake up early. I came home from the farm at midnight and the wake-up call was at 01:30 London time. First the small plane, E90, from Tallinn to Helsinki and from Helsinki to LHR a brand new and shiny A350. That's European travelling in style.
I picked up my 5650G from London Salon sharp two weeks ago and now back.
Two weeks earlier I received the watch. After getting with that to the airport lounge, I adjusted it to correct time with the help of a Finnish atomic clock.
Now two weeks later we can see the results. The hour hand of the home time is hidden, but everybody can get the idea.
The watch went from Arctic to tropic. It did not stand still much. It lost about 2.75 seconds in 14 days making less than minus 0.2 seconds per day. Is that kind of accuracy acceptable?
Finally, some thoughts of mine:
- I would have loved to have the watch in platinum but can live with white gold.
- I guess I have to live with this accuracy level of minus 0.2 seconds per day.
But seriously:
I think 5650G is a much greater reference than what we understand. Patek is capable of building watches with accuracy nobody can compete with. Furthermore, I am just waiting that the Advanced Research in 5250, 5350, 5450, 5560 and 5650 will be placed to a new reference with something new. To me it sounds like revolution!
The setting mechanism of the second time zone is slim and smooth like nothing I have tried before. Use that kind of system in the pushers of a chronograph and add to the watch all the elements of Advanced Research. What do we get: world's slimmest and most accurate chronograph, nearly maintenance free and anti magnetic.
I have not yet decided which one I like most: my 5450P, 5550P or 5650G. But one thing is for sure: my name is in the list for 5750 and 5850. I am absolutely sure we will see something stunning again.
