Dr.kol shares his exciting acquisition of a New Old Stock Patek Philippe Ref. 5100P, dedicating the find to fellow collector ch9698. His post captures the thrill of securing a rare timepiece and the immediate joy of wearing it, complete with initial impressions and detailed photographs.

And I blame you for all the time, trouble and money that was needed to find a N.O.S. 5100P.

But now the original (too short) black strap is changed to a temporary one with folding clasp and the watch is on my wrist.

Thank you ch9698! And a couple of quick pictures:

Thank you for watching. I love this watch!

Best, Kari

About the Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 5100

The Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 5100 was introduced in 2000 as a limited edition to commemorate the new millennium. This reference stands out within the Calatrava line for its distinctive 'Manta Ray' shaped case, departing from the more traditional round Calatrava forms. It was produced in very limited quantities across different precious metals, making it a notable special edition for collectors of the brand.

The 5100 features a manual-wind caliber 28-20/220, a movement specifically developed for this model, known for its elongated form to fit the unique case shape. The case is characterized by its rectangular, slightly curved profile with integrated lugs, and it is fitted with a sapphire crystal. The specific variant mentioned, the 5100P-001, is crafted in platinum.

This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate Patek Philippe's limited-production commemorative pieces and those drawn to watches with distinctive case designs. Its unique aesthetic and the bespoke movement developed for it position the 5100 as a significant, albeit unconventional, entry in the brand's modern history, particularly for enthusiasts of shaped timepieces.

a really nice model and the platinum case with black dial is awesome. The best combination to my taste too, even much more elegant than the WG case with blue dial IMHO after having seen both. Enjoy it for a long long time. This watch should take maybe more wrist time than your beloved 5960 1/A!!! Let us know. Best, Patrickh

but "grew" to 5100P. I'm happy like a small kid! Now in May I will still pick up 3 x platinum Patek from the Salon, one steel and then still one vintage. Crazy month. But I'm trying to get a couple of alternatives to my 5960A. Best, Kari
