Hey guys, it's been a while, wanted to share my latest acquisition, the ref 5049P made to collaborate the 200th Anniversary of the Boodle and Dunthorne. The reference is unique to this limited edition of 20 pieces, all numbered with a badass black dial and dauphine hands. The case is based on ref. 5139 but instead of the clou de Paris finished bezel features a stepped bezel reminding me of the ref. 3449 - the closest I'll get to this reference for now haha.

Cheers !

M.

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 3449

The Patek Philippe Reference 3449 is a perpetual calendar wristwatch, notable for its limited production and distinctive design within the brand's perpetual calendar lineage. It represents a specific period in Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar development, preceding later, more widely produced references. The reference is recognized for its integration of a moon phase display, a feature consistently present in Patek Philippe's perpetual calendars of this era.

This reference typically features a case crafted from precious metals, housing a manual-winding movement. The movement incorporates the perpetual calendar mechanism, displaying day, date, month, leap year cycle, and moon phases. The crystal protecting the dial is generally of a material consistent with high-end watchmaking of its time. The dimensions of the case are characteristic of dress watches from the mid-20th century.

Reference 3449 appeals to collectors interested in rare and historically significant perpetual calendars from Patek Philippe. Its scarcity contributes to its desirability among those seeking less common examples of the brand's complicated watches. The design elements, including the moon phase disc, reflect the aesthetic sensibilities prevalent during its production period, offering a point of comparison with both earlier and later perpetual calendar references.

No fuss, nice complication, timeless character. Superb catch, I have never seen such a rare example! Have you been hunting it for long or did you find it by serendipity?

Thanks so much !

I wasn't particularly looking for it no, a dear friend offered it to me and it came down to this or a 3940J black dial vintage collection, I opted for the reasons above and the large signature on the 3940
