Daniel, known as mrds on WatchProSite, shares his unexpected encounter with a rare Panerai PAM 065. Despite not being a Paneristi himself due to wrist size, his detailed observations and stunning photography highlight the unique appeal of this platinum Radiomir. His initial impressions challenge conventional perceptions of the brand, inviting the community to weigh in on this distinctive reference.

… and this is not my watch. With my small wrists, I never got into Panerai at all, and I know very little about the models. However, today I had a very nice talk with an AD (after a very nice lunch, too) and he showed me this platinum beauty. I must say, I‘m surprised in a very positive way by the quality and feeling of this rare bird.

So here goes…

Pam 065

The dial is simply to die for, the weight of the watch feels perfect, the case is understated but unmistakably Radiomir. The only thing I‘d change is the Platinum marking on the dial. But all in all, this is a great, casual but stylish specimen from bella Italia.

What do you Paneristi think?

Best,
Daniel

About the Panerai PAM00065 - Radiomir Platinum Ref. PAM065

The PAM065 represents Panerai's Radiomir series executed in platinum, distinguishing itself from standard steel variants through its precious metal case construction. This reference combines the Radiomir model architecture with the brand's signature black dial configuration in a 42mm format.

The watch features a 42mm platinum case paired with a black dial. The platinum construction elevates this reference above standard production models while maintaining the fundamental Radiomir case proportions and design language.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking precious metal Panerai examples, particularly those focused on the Radiomir series. The platinum case material and 42mm sizing position the PAM065 as a premium variant within the Radiomir lineup, attracting buyers interested in both the model's design characteristics and precious metal construction.

Big date, blue dial, 42mm and 99 unit SE. What's not to love?

I’ve got a similar piece from that era, pam062 that’s 40mm and also has the minute markers, something quite unusual for a Panerai

I collect panerai watches since 1998 ( along other watch brands since 1994) but this one is something! The brand went too far for me after 2014. Congratulations!

Although I must confess I haven't closely followed Panerai over the years, just scratched the surface. But with this 065, I am quite smitten by its charm and the beautiful execution. Thanks for chiming in!

My quick search only had one hit. Unsurprisingly, on WPS. www.watchprosite.com So I guess, Suitbert would know much better than me.

"Platinum" and not the...date which, for a true blue Panerista makes this model...horrendous. That being said, it's one of the early attempts of the Vendome Group at creating upmarket "jewelry" models (the 21 is another example) and move the brand from the status of tool watches to more moderate, main-stream, timepeaces. IMO of course
