Nicolas (amanico) shares a captivating wrist shot of the Panerai PAM 5218 Marina Militare, a piece he describes as a 'killer.' This post serves as a prime example of how a single wrist shot can ignite a passionate discussion among collectors, highlighting the enduring appeal and distinctive design elements of iconic Panerai references. It underscores the importance of visual content in conveying the true presence of a watch.

The Panerai Marina Militare PAM5218 is a notable early model from the brand's modern era, distinguished by its robust case design and historical dial configuration. This reference is part of a series that re-established Panerai's presence in the collector market, drawing inspiration from its historical instruments. It represents a significant point in the brand's transition from a specialized supplier to a global luxury watch manufacturer.
This particular reference features a substantial case crafted from stainless steel, measuring 44mm in diameter. It is equipped with a manual-wind movement, providing a power reserve of 56 hours. The watch typically utilizes a sapphire crystal, contributing to its durability and legibility. The design emphasizes functionality and a clear, uncluttered dial layout.
For collectors, the PAM5218 holds relevance as one of the foundational pieces from Panerai's VendΓ΄me period. Its limited production numbers and faithful adherence to historical design cues make it a sought-after reference. It appeals to those interested in the brand's heritage and the early iterations of its contemporary production.
Everything is just right with this one.
I got to see one in the metal last November, I liked too. But too close to my 360 to really make any sense for me. (Although having two or more watches that look very similar is not something that is unfamiliar to me ! LOL).
Personally I love how they did the dial. The attention to fonts as well as indices deserves praise. At the same time and besides funding, I now wonder what kind of model the brand may release in the near future if they keep on that track, because we could be in for a small renaissance.
Wearing this now π
you bought it? My memory is not as good as it used to be.....the first Panerai you bought since I've joined WatchProsite?
Concierge just reached out last week about having another for purchase. Might still be available!
