His post validates the watch's appeal, confirming its status as a highly desirable piece within the Panerai collecting community. This article delves into the community's reactions, offering a deeper look at what makes this reference so compelling.

The Panerai Marina Militare PAM5218 is a notable early model from the brand's modern era, distinguished by its robust case design and historical dial configuration. This reference is part of a series that re-established Panerai's presence in the collector market, drawing inspiration from its historical instruments. It represents a significant point in the brand's transition from a specialized supplier to a global luxury watch manufacturer.
This particular reference features a substantial case crafted from stainless steel, measuring 44mm in diameter. It is equipped with a manual-wind movement, providing a power reserve of 56 hours. The watch typically utilizes a sapphire crystal, contributing to its durability and legibility. The design emphasizes functionality and a clear, uncluttered dial layout.
For collectors, the PAM5218 holds relevance as one of the foundational pieces from Panerai's Vendôme period. Its limited production numbers and faithful adherence to historical design cues make it a sought-after reference. It appeals to those interested in the brand's heritage and the early iterations of its contemporary production.
The cut out numbers are perfect so is the font, a solid 10! I saw the 1628 today and it looked quite good in the metal with its aged case, I was surprised how much I liked it, maybe more than the 372!
... for the classic design and simplicity. To pick nits though, I wish the case were slightly less dark and the color of the indices not quite so deep.
Maybe not as good as an original but then what is but it is close enough to make most people happy I would guess. Marc
Mon ami. It’s a stunning watch.
I would like to see it in person, but, looks great.
Got the 1084 and didn’t even look back.
