My first Omega. And I love it!

A big thank you to all my friends and watch enthusiasts here on WatchProSite who encouraged me to acquire this Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer.

As I already wrote in my previous thread this watch really stands out to me as the best World Timer I could find to satisfy my requirements.

It´s a watch that ticks all the right boxes for me: a really wonderful dial, great features (Worldtimer, GMT, 15.000 Gauss, WR 150 m, PR 60 hours etc) and perfect sitting on my wrist. Although the case size is 43mm, the thickness 14,8mm and the weight 242g.

So you feel and for sure don’t forget that you are wearing a lot of watch. And it might also not fly under the radar…. Even more than it has been clear for me to choose the case in red (“sedna”) gold with its beautifully contrasted silver-white-dial. I simply like this version the most.

Another eye catcher of the watch is the grade 5 titanium laser-ablated earth plate in the middle. The view of the earth has been laser-ablated to create a blue ocean and leaving a relief of the continents where the contrasting colors of the earth’s surface are obtained naturally by the laser’s chemical reaction.

This earth plate is surrounded by a 24-hour glass ring, partly in white to indicate daytime and in dark blue to indicate night. This ring rotates over the day and points at the actual time in the 24 cities shown.

The laser-ablated earth plate is raised compared to the ring around which leads to a realistic, three-dimensional appearance.

The exterior section of the dial includes a circle of global destinations printed in red (GMT), blue (for the destinations where you have to add 1 hour in summer) and Sedna gold (places without daylight savings).

You can move the 24-hours-ring over the crown and in addition - in another position of the crown - you are able to move the hour hand (GMT-function). So the hour hand can be adjusted independently of the worldtime complication.

I have already told you about the (small) disappointment in the Omega Boutique Vienna last Friday when I had to refuse my already drawn credit card again. The reason: literally at the last second I detected a small scratch visible on the bezel at around 6:00.

The sales staff (Mr. Teng and Mrs. Chen) tried to find a quick solution and had been very friendly and caring for me.

Yesterday came the relieving news from the store manager Mr. Schmolek who has been working for Omega for more tha 30 years and is also a professional watchmaker.

He had inspected the watch personally. He meant it fortunately was just a "breeze" of a scratch that was "completely superficial" and could be removed with a quick, very light polish "for one second" (without losing any material).
He assured me "100%”, that “even under a magnifying glass" I wouldn't see anything (the bezel of this watch couldn’t be polished either without showing that it has been polished).

I decided to trust him and was not dissappointed today. I really didn't see anything. So I was very relieved and happy. And in addition to that I also got a nice discount without being asked, which made me even happier. And so the deal was quickly made.

All the best and thanks for reading
Thomas

I wonder if anyone has been to both South Georgia . . .

. . . and Noumea. If not, perhaps you'll have the distinction of owning the first GMT to travel to every location on the dial I can think of no grander horological bucket list.

Thanks a lot, mon ami!

I know, your taste is more towards white metal, which I usually prefer, too. But here I like to make an exception (like with the BP FF). The color combination of dial and case has really charm.
