Pierre37 initiates a detailed inquiry into the subtle variations found on vintage Omega Speedmaster bezels and crowns. His post highlights specific characteristics like the 'dot over 90' and the presence of accents on 'tachymètre,' seeking to establish a chronology for these design elements.

HI,

I have 2 questions about Omega speedmaster :

Ex :  105003 with dot on the right of the 90

Ex : 105003 with dot upside the 90 :

There are many examples like this with 105012 where the dot of the 90 is sometimes upside, sometimes on the right…

First, is the recent crown (with well rounded omega logo), ex :

=> I would like to know since when this kind of crown have been use ?

And 2 kinds of vintage crowns but I don’t know when one or the other have been used (I see 105012 with the 2 kinds of crowns).

Ex : (the vintage big size Omega logo, picture credit : 105012 of did on fam).

Ex : (the vintage small size Omega logo, picture credit : 105012 of valentin33 on chronomania).

If someone knows answers

Sorry for my my approximate English

                    Thank a lot

re bezel

hi there pierre, for what its worth i have two 69 speedies and both have the high dot 90 bezel . i can only assume that many earlier speedmasters have had replacement bezels fitted and that the original bezels are no longer available. hopefully someone with more knowledge than i can clarify this. regards simon

A very good article on Speedmaster bezels

... has been published on Timezone-Italy. It is in italian, but it is based on observatons by a few of the best Speedmaster people around, Gino Balbi and others forum.timezoneitalia.com In teh same site tehre is also a nice one on the push-buttons of Sppedmasters. Regarding the crowns, what I know is that the second one you mention is the one used in all 2998s, and has a diameter of 6.7mm. The third one I had never seen before, the first one is of later production. Best wishes Franco

here's my 105.003. dot at top of 90 and french tachymetre

it is however a 100% original bezel. i was considering putting a new one on, but am a bit worried that it might be different. hope this helps in your quest for the truth. Graham
