Ed White was delivered this morning, and just a few hours later I retrieved the '49 ref 2493 chronometer from my watchmaker.

Omega guys will know instinctively . . .

. . . just how special this watch is.

This is almost like seeing two Stones shows . . .

This one looks spectacular Art! Did you have to wait long for the Ed White?

Apologies for the stupid question but for a non omega expert like myself, I actually prefer the Ed White speedy over the normal model but is the price different justified?

My wait, from the day I placed the order . . .

. . . until today, was 14+ months. My nephew Serj has been on the list for two months, but it's doubtful he'll see his for five years, according to OB staff. As to whether Ed White is priced appropriately: they're going for a 50% markup on the secondary market. The movement makes all the difference. Best, Art

Thanks! Naively I thought cal 3861 was better then cal 321 (at least in chronometry?)? I better hurry to get my name in then!

Comparing the two would be a long discussion . . .

. . . and involve history as much as technical distinctions. Let it suffice to say a cal 321 movement has the same allure as, say, a Porsche 911S engine. Old school, way cool, and good enough for a trip to the moon. Given the choice between the two, it's the 321 for me. Your mileage may vary. 😉
