G99 shares his recent acquisition, a 1964 Omega Seamaster De Ville ref. 166.020 with a Calibre 560 movement, a piece specifically designed for the US market. His post highlights the unique characteristics of this vintage Omega, setting the stage for a deeper dive into its historical context and technical specifications. This acquisition is part of G99's ongoing pursuit of watches from his birth year, adding a personal touch to his collecting journey.
i have literally just purchased this watch via my favourite source at a price i consider to be pretty good. it is an interesting piece of which i will write more when it arrives, but here are the sellers pics of my new piece from 1964, a seamaster deville 166.020 with calibre 560 made for the US market. it will fit very nicely into my 1964 theme so i'm pleased to have won it, but i'll let Hans write the review as he know so much more about this calibre than i do.

so thats now 3 in the post or shortly to be. one new one, another from 1964, neither Omegas and finally this. i do love a good online auction
enjoy
Graham
Another 64 watch! And as always, a nice catch! Do you still wait for another piece to come, as I think you spoke about 2 watches to come? Best to you, my unbelievable greedy friend. Nicolas
well Nicolas, i try not to be greedy and to just aquire good value pieces that fit into the theme. as its stands today, i have a new release en route from Switzerland posted on 23rd so perhaps it will arrive tomorrow, cant say anymore until i get it, sorry :), i have a Seiko 1964 tokyo Olympic 1 button chronograph and finally this uncommon 560 calibre seamaster from 1964. it is interesting for several reasons as i'll explain when i post it in full. i've also found a 1964 Tudor precision with ori
Well, I added another one today, as a part of a crazy trade, too. Seems that we'll need a kind of horological diet! Can't wait to see your pics. Best, Nicolas
you wont believe this Nico, but i've found an august 1964 Seiko 66A calibre handwind for pennies. to get the year AND month of my birth would be good. i have to assess whether the movement is anything other than standard and its worth the few pennies it will cost. best Graham
I hope there are no other Purists born in 64 as you seem to be clearing up..!! Congrats on this new baby, Andy.
there are lots of us Andy. Me, Nicolas, AndrewD and Bill Sohne are just 4 i know of. all of us like vintage Omega's, but only Bill and i will fight the fleabay battle. best Graham
