While I was browsing the Omega Website searching for some novelties, I suddenly noticed that Omega released two versions of the sublime Seamaster 1948 in platinum.

I covered some months ago the steel versions of the Seamaster 1948 Small and Central Seconds I could admire during my visit of the Omega Manufacture. The link is here:

www.watchprosite.com

The platinum versions are gorgeous, in pictures, and I cannot wait to see them in the " metal ".

Same case size, same movement ( 8805 for the small seconds, 8807 for the central seconds ), but the choice of platinum shold give a pleasant density to the 38 mm case.

The dials are made of platinum, too, with gold indices, hands and Omega Logo.

Here are some pictures borrowed to the Omega Website.

Central Seconds:

Small Seconds:

As not everything is perfect in this world of ours, two issues: Finding one will be a tough challenge, with only 70 pieces for each version, and the price... 39500 Euros, VAT included, which is a major difference with the steel versions.

Now, to end in beauty, a side by side picture... To help you to make your mind on which one is your favorite....

At the contrary of the steel series, here I prefer the platinum Central Second.

What about you?

Best,

Nicolas

Alas... The platinum dial is to die for, even if I would have preferred without the mention PT 950 at the axis of the hands... [nt]

Oh I didnโ€™t even notice that!

You are absolutely correct on this point, A!

I wonder why they feel the need to mention that, indeed... [nt]
