How do I start.

This community has brought me so much joy over the years that I really cannot quantify it in words. One of the many benefits is making new friends that we would never have met anywhere else. Fortunately for me, I have made some amazing and lifelong friendships along the way and cherish them dearly.

This leads me to today. Earlier this year I saw a watch posted by a WPS member. We both go back a long way over a decade for both of us and much longer in general in this passion and hobby. This particular watch took my breath away as I thought it was so beautiful. The condition appeared to be pristine and I have never seen one like it in that condition but I am no expert so I will defer to others who know more than myself to clarify.

Anyways, I politely asked him for first right of refusal if he ever decided to move it on. To my surprise and delight, that day came this past Tuesday. We discussed offline and came to an agreement.

Little did I know that we would build a nice rapport which I hope leads to a great friendship. We share several things in common which is always great and makes me smile thinking about the WristScan I just hosted this past weekend titled "Watches and our other Passion and Hobbies." I guess it was serendipitous that I would receive a message and eventually have the privilege to own such a special watch.

First, I would like to thank my new friend Antony for trusting me enough to be the caretaker for such an amazing heirloom. I don't even consider this a watch even though it is, obviously. For being 87 years old, it looks incredible.

Sadly, I already put my 1st battle scar on it. While trying to open the hunter, hinge case back, I scratch the case back with a Swiss Army knife as I didn't have the proper case back opener and was not patient enough to wait for one. Not the first, nor the last time I will make a horrific mistake like this but such is life. The sad part is that this beauty survived 87 years in pristine condition and I gouge it in 5 seconds πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜’πŸ€¬

Ok, enough gibby gabba. I present to you all my new pride and joy. She could very be my new favorite watch, at least in my top 5.

Some info:

monopusher with fired enamel dial (email grand feu)
caliber 33.3 CHRO
yellow gold case
37.7mm (10 to 4) , 40mm (9 to 3 including the crown)
archive papers date her back to 1933 πŸ˜‰

The only thing that comes to my mind when I look down at my wirst is: PERFECTION (I would not change a single thing)

I think I can imagine how you feel...

I have a Longines chrono from 1923 with the 13.33 movement. Yours is an absolute beauty! Sorry for my bad picture, it is an old one... Dirk

Amazing for an 87YO!

Truly special and big congrats! I think will look a killer with alligator strap. Like the movement filling up the case nicely. A great addition to your collection!

Thanks SF, she is a beauty, even better IRL than in photos...

She is already on an aged nubuck chocolate alligator strap but the photo did not show it well. Here is another photo 😁
