AnthonyTsai's poll on the Montblanc Villeret collection sparks a crucial debate among PuristS: should Montblanc introduce stainless steel models? This discussion challenges the traditional notion that high horology movements must be cased exclusively in precious metals, exploring the implications for brand identity, market strategy, and collector perception.
Will there ever be a stainless steel model for the Villeret collection?
I've asked this question to management but so far the responses I've received have been lukewarm at best.
Why? Because the Villeret collection represents the best that Montblanc has to offer and therefore the movements have to be cased in precious metal.

PP has demonstrated that a carefully curated collection of high-end steel pieces does not reduce the overall value of a product line, in fact the older simple Patek's in steel are far more valuable than the gold ones. ... does it devalue the watches in precious metals? I am not one of them, but I have heard people say that they would only buy watches made solely in precious metals. Any steel watch in the same range would turn them off the purchase. I wonder how prevalent this thinking is? And what of those who have purchased the MB Villeret's already, paying a premium for the metal? How will they feel if the same watch became available in steel at half the price? Personally with platinum tastes and a steel bu
