jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) shares a series of exquisite macro photographs of the Montblanc Villeret Chronograph Grand Feu Email, focusing on its beautiful Caliber 13.21 movement and black enamel dial. This post highlights the challenges and rewards of macro photography in capturing the intricate details of high horology, especially with a hunter caseback.

I am loving macro photography on watches lately and have started snapping more and more pictures. Will share more of them over time.

This weekend I have attempted on this Montblanc Villeret and its beautiful caliber 13.21. It is a challenge to capture the movement details especially the very nice and large balance wheel due to the hunter back (which blocks half the light source especially at the balance wheel area).

I believe it will be easier to capture the beauty of the calibre 13.21 on the new Meisterstuck Heritage Pulsograph or the Montblanc Villeret Vintage Pulsograph, both of which are without a hunter case back. I will try to improve these pics esp on the balance wheel which I gave up this time.

Also tried my best to bring the black enamel dial to life via my macro lens. Hope you can see some of the small bubbles on the dial - enamel dials can't be perfect and some small bubbles make them even more appealing for me.

Some eye candy for the weekend. Hope you enjoy them

Cheers
Robin

Love the Minerva y-bridge. Superbly finished esp under macro lens

I will try to get better pics on the balance wheel - the hunter back is tricky!

The famous Minerva arrowhead. Perfectly finished!

Didn't know the case back looks so nice under macro lens

Can you spot some small bubbles on the black enamel dial ?

Love column wheel chronographs
