Last week I dropped by the Montblanc boutique at Mandarin Gallery Singapore to buy a laptop bag.
Took the chance to look at some Montblanc ladies watches and the Montblanc Star ladies with mother of pearl dials blew me away for their sheer beauty.

I especially like the Montblanc Star Lady Moonphase Automatic with a seductive and mysterious looking black mother of pearl dial.

The Star Ladies automatic and quartz with white MOP also look very nice. The depth of the MOP on the automatic version looks amazing. I tried to take some nice pictures to share here. I am not sure if MOP dials have different grades but those on the Montblancs look really nice to me with lots of character and depth.
From my sample, it looks like the higher end Star Ladies have a nicer MOP dial but it may be random as MOP dials are all unique and subjective - some like them rougher and more reflective, some like them smoother and more discreet.

I didn't pay attention to MOP dials in the past but now realize why they are so popular amongst ladies and even gentlemen. I must admit if there is a black MOP dial on a nice gentlemen's watch, I might go for one, if it is as nice as the black MOP on the Star Lady Moonphase automatic.

Some pictures to share. Let me know what you think.
Special thanks to Eugene from Montblanc Mandarin Gallery Singapore for helping me select the perfect laptop bag plus showing me these beautiful Montblanc Star ladies MOP watches.

cheers
robin

My favorite of the 3. The black MOP dial on this Montblanc Star Ladies Moonphase automatic is seductive and mysterious looking.

The back of the Star Ladies Moonphase Automatic. Only the balance wheel can be seen via a MB emblem glass. Makes alot of sense as the movement decoration is very basic.

I love the ladies Star Moonphase caseback with the glass Montblanc emblem showing just the balance wheel

Somehow the Star Ladies quartz (this piece I saw) has a MOP dial that is more subdued compared to the automatic version

The trio. My favorite is the Moonphase automatic. The black MOP is to die for with a bluish tint

Wow! Beautiful pieces.

MOP dials really bring out the elegant nature of Montblanc design. My question is: Is Montblanc a brand that appeals to the ladies? Or do people normally associate the brand more with gentlemen? I have absolutely no idea about how the ladies see Montblanc as a brand, and would love to know the opinions from fellow purists.

Interesting point Luis

I asked my wife the same question last night. Some context - she has a Cartier and a Rolex ladies (and I know she also likes Chopard happy sports and she also likes your wife's PP 24) - she is into the bling factor! She told me Montblanc is a leader in men's luxury and it won't be her first choice, as a brand. Ladies will prefer Chopard, Cartier, Chanel, etc. I think that is quite a common response from ladies to be honest. Then I showed her the picture of the Montblanc Star Lady Moonphase autom

If this was in the Rolex forum....

You may be called a "meteorite sexual" if you were talking about the Daytona with a meteorite dial. LOL. Bill
