Waitlisted, a dedicated Ming collector, shares his latest acquisition, the Ming 19.02 Worldtimer Singapore Edition. This article delves into his personal connection with the brand and the specific allure of this limited-edition timepiece, offering insights into its unique aesthetic and horological appeal. His detailed observations highlight why this particular reference stands out in his extensive collection.

Many of you who know me know that I'm a big fan of Ming - I was lucky enough to pick up the original 17.01 when it launched in 2017, and fell in love with the brand. The 19.02 worldtimer is my newest addition and marks my sixth ming and first 19 series Ming (after the 17.01, 17.03 ultra blue, and 17.06 slate, copper, and dlc slate). This is the Singapore edition, which is an edition of 10 that replaces Kuala Lumpur on the worldtime dial with Singapore. I'm a big fan of the execution of the SE caliber in this watch - the rose gold plating, partial skeletonization, movement architecture and microrotor combine to create a beautiful and visually interesting package.

The watch wears perfectly on my wrist - visually striking but light and perfectly balanced. Although I try my best, pictures truly don't do this watch justice - it really has to be seen in person to appreciate all of the ways in which this watch interacts with the light.

For those interested in photography, I took this picture with a Leica M10-R, 90mm macro-elmar, and extension tubes.

I use a 90mm macro-elmar lens with extension tubes and an elpro 52 close-up lens. It's not the easiest setup to use as everything is manual, but it can take some pretty close macros...

Second, I agree re the Worldtimer. And MING in general (although the most recent piece, the Diver, was not to my liking). Having had this on the wrist when the MING folks were in town last year I was really impressed. I was very close on ordering one at the time, but held off (trying to be more disciplined this last year).

Trying to improve my watch photography has been a really fun endeavor this year, and has also been a very nice diversion while cooped up inside during the pandemic. I have the diver coming - my theory is that it'll look great on a brightly colored strap to provide some contrast to the monochrome color scheme, but we'll see. I find there's always something extra about mings that comes through in person but not in photos.
