Bernard Cheong presents a thought-provoking post, humorously titled "500mg dose of Metaphor," which uses automotive design analogies to reflect on the world of watch collecting. Through a series of metaphorical images and descriptions of a fictional 'Model B' car, Cheong invites readers to consider the interplay of heritage, innovation, and recognition in luxury design, prompting a deeper appreciation for the nuances of collecting.

What? You mean you haven't tried metaphor?

It is the MOST active ingredient in a forum.

Available in prescription strenght!

What is "Metaphor" used for? It's for treating mocking laughter of non watch people/ollectors who don't know a Casio from a Journe.

Remember...THIS medicine is for YOU and me. Only an idiot will tell you not to read any further!

You may notice, however, some "hair changes" and possibly mood swings.

This could be a result that one may feel (wrongly of course), that one has spent too much money on watches.

Metaphorically speaking from the world of watch design.

At the design stages, over 10 years, the team wants the B, the Konstantin B, to be recognized as a new evolutionary design in the car industry.
But it also has to pay homage to the incredible history behind the car, proudly called the Model B.
The model B has been raced victoriously by many well known figures thru out history, from royalty to celebrities from Hollywood .

The front wheels are typical Model B, but the rear wheel is now a singular device, allowing direct transmission of power to the ground, irregardless of the driver’s strength.
The headlights are far out as it can go.
The result is that the vehicles’ on road stance is even more sporty and aggressive.
(If your doctor has advised you against the use of Metaphor, stop reading now, as you have already ingested some 200mg of the substance!)

The side profile is typically a Porsche type flow, with the body tapering down seamlessly to the rear.
No side mirrors allow for very low drag.
The front wheel arches typically exemplify a strong identity to the Model B, allowing the viewer to recognize where the power and the control of the Model B is coming from.
For me, personally, the back end is the highlight.
Characterized by the extreme narrow tail, it exudes power and a sense of the Porsche 911 contribution to its identity.
It is unmistakably a Konstantin B.
Even at night.
The edges visually emphasize strength and power.
The interior and the exterior flow continuously into one.
This enhances the cockpit experience, it reduces the total components of the vehicle to approximately 12 parts. A world record for a road going sports car.
Single seating is a part of the model B’s character that exudes the pure sporting heritage of its roots from Formula 1. There are very few, if at all, road going sports cars of this high level of purity and design. Irregardless of price!

But who cares about prices, when, as even in watches...the rear view is EVERYTHING!

The extreme low ride height is a world first, enhancing the feel of the road to the driver.
The team at and behind the power and handling of the Model B has not just looked back into the rich history of limb powered sports cars, but also forwards to the dynamic handling of the new Model B.
Once again, the company behind the Model B has raised the bar for vehicles of this class. The car is more refined, faster, quicker, …most importantly, it retains the character of the Model B.
These values have created a sportscar without any comparable rival.
The first thing you will notice behind the wheel of the 2012 Konstantin is the balance.
The single wheel, single axle, rear system is unique.
Cornering at full speed, there is no lift from the rear, the car absolutely adheres to the ground.
The direct cog to axle steering gives a precision second to none, even from the world of Formula 1.
Phenomenal!!!
Gone are the days when engineers make a sportscar by placing a big powerful engine.
The Model B is so pure, it has no engine, just the best and purest power from the lower limbs of the driver.
The acceleration is phenomenal.
It is capable of accelerating to speeds that are not at all comparable to any car in the world.
The materials to make a car at this level of performance is unique to the car industry. They are light, so light, that the driver is able to pick up the entire vehicle with just ONE arm!

The incredible weight of this car is such that even compared with both the Porsche Carrera and the McLaren formula 1 cars, the Model b can complete any race circuit without the use of fuel!
The steering is very communicative, telling you what’s happening at each corner.
The balance is incredible.
An engineer took the car to Nurburgring and achieved a record lap of 27 hours and 34 seconds!
To put that into context, that is just less than 8 times the fastest it took for the Apollo to reach the moon!!!
It is mind boggling that the speed behind this car can be achieved with so little weight and no brakes!
It is said that the BEST is to beat anything and all that is identical.
That is all that the Konstantin B is about…identity!
The Konstantin B. Silent, swift, handbuilt in small numbers entirely in Europe .
No other cars, even in the future, from the very top names in Formula 1 will ever be built this way.
Whenever we come across innovations, complications, new performance records, always remember the Konstantin B.
A legend in the car world. No words can say more.

Yes.

The entire view of any watch, car or design is everything too, with emotion!

But seriously...Metaphor is used to treat all manner of disorders arising from attending fairs, seeing new models, buying useless stuff, over powered Porsches, and all forms of low purchase tolerance!

I hope you have enjoyed this rather deviated post...metaphorically speaking.

Have a GREAT SIHH all envoys and journalists!!!

Bernard
