Quattro introduces Markwell Watches, a brand founded by John Liley, offering Swiss-made timepieces with a distinctive design philosophy. This post provides a detailed look at the 'Telford case' with its unique spider lugs and showcases the 'Datematic' and 'Memento Mori' models. Readers will gain insight into the brand's commitment to quality and accessibility, along with specific design elements that set these watches apart.
Markwell Watches was founded by John Liley, a passionate watch collector with a long experience in collecting, trading, and repairing timepieces. Inspired by his grandfather's well-worn watch, Liley aimed to create high-quality, Swiss-made watches accessible to the everyday person. He partnered with a close friend, a successful businessman, fellow Freemason and watch enthusiast, to bring his vision to life.
The “Telford case”, with its spider lugs, is 37mm in diameter, 10.35 mm high (including the boxed sapphire crystal), 43mm from lug to lug with a 20mm lug width.
Each model is powered by a Sellita SW200-1 26 jewel automatic Swiss movement regulated +6/-4 averaged per day and its water resistance is 10 bar/100 meters when the crown is fully pushed in.
And, whereas the "Datematic" has very original applied indices and a date aperture, the "Memento Mori" has painted Masonic symbols for the hours and no date.
