Great time to be out exploring.
Makes my heart ache. I'm a Texas native and resident, but my family and I have spent a ton of time in the park. I wish I was there... but glad to see you're out enjoying it! Same view but from higher up (on the flattop mtn trail), 2015:
Emerald Lake, glad you got to go. So many excellent hikes to take in the park. I have heard nothing more about the fire burning a few days ago, has it been extinguished? Awful news about the tanker plane crash and pilot.
The flattop mountain trail is excellent…
Traction was essential..
The flattop trail really is an excellent piece of trailbuilding. Wide and smooth, all the way to the top. It's still a tough one though, especially when it gets windy up there.
