So as mentioned in my post on the Journe Forum we had a quick little GTG after work earlier this week to welcome a new watch (the stunning Optimum).
While there were only four of us, one person did bring more than one watch. Always a pleasure with this group, there are some really fantastic watches between us.
The variety included the Optimum, the Offshore, my honey gold Lange, a beautiful Patek World Time with such a vibrant green in the enamel, a special Shapiro, the flagship Credor and a stand out piece of American independent watchmaking from RGM.
The RGM deserves a special note, the watch has a mother of pearl dial upon with the artist has painted the ship and landscape. Note how the MOP has been used so cleverly to represent the stormy sky. The overall effect is almost three dimensional in person. Really really cool.
Thanks guys for coming out. Until the next time.

Congrats on the optimum!
And yes, the RGM is special. It’s not my first time seeing it but as can often be the case I appreciate it more now than I did in the past. The dial is pretty amazing, and while the theme may not resonate with me personally it’s impossible not to like / appreciate. And far far rarer than the cloisonné PP, which in that group of four there are two ! The RGM is one of one I think.
I posted a few more photos over on the Journe forum. The honey gold is not bad either, albeit in a much different category. We had a little discussion about the Lange actually, as I need to raise funds a new watch and have contemplated whether or not this Lange could be sacrificed. The opinions of the others present was unanimous, “don’t sell that watch” !
